Petition Filed Against Virat Kohli And Tamannaah Bhatia for Promoting Online Gambling Apps

A petition has been filed in Madras High Court against Team India (Tea, India) captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia for promoting online gambling. Apart from Virat Kohli, a case has been registered against actress Tamannaah Bhatia, making the same allegations.

‘Companies are using stars to brainwash the youth’

A lawyer from Chennai has filed a petition in the Madras High Court. The petitioner has sought directions from MHC to ban online gambling apps and platforms from the Madras High Court and strictly implement the online gambling laws in india as soon as possible.

The petitioner stated that the youth are getting addicted to gambling and are going into depression. Because of this, youth are committing suicide. Youngsters are being hooked to the present online gambling addiction by the organizers by providing huge cash bonuses to anyone.

According to the petitioner, online gambling companies are using stars like Virat Kohli and Tamannaah Bhatia to promote online gambling. These companies are using these stars to brainwash the youth. This gambling addiction is more dangerous to the society and violative of Article 21 of the Constitution of India, as it infringes the right to life.

In online gambling, the damage is completed during a short span, whereas alcohol and cigarettes take about 15 years to harm an individual. They’re being lured in to play by celebrities who endorse it using their influence within the public minds.

Youth begin with pin money, income, and then exhaust family savings, later lend money. When the lender goes to their residence and embarrasses them, they take the acute steps. There are many cases like these in recent times and lots of more such unfortunate cases will emerge within the coming months when youth are unemployed and idle.

Therefore both of them should be arrested. The petitioner also mentioned in his petition a young man who had committed suicide as he could not return the money for online gambling.
